Where to go for the best brunch in Barcelona

Brunch is not precisely a common word in the spanish vocabulary, as it’s not a regular practice as in other parts of Europe or the United States. However, there are several spots in Barcelona that offer weekend or daily brunch as well as tasty breakfasts. If you’re looking for the perfect brunch in Barcelona, these are the places to go.

Federal Café

Recreating the atmosphere of Federal, a small town in New South Wales, Australia, Federal Café serves daily brunch from 9:00 to 16:00 focusing on organic products. Cozy, casual and well lighted, Federal has nice music, lots of magazines to read  and lots of space to hang out for hours. Eggs are the specialty, either scrambled, fried, poached or the lovely Eggs Valentine. Options for vegetarians. Terrace and wifi available.

Just steps away from Federal Café, Tonka also focuses in local organic produce, with a brunch that includes eggs, meat and tofu sausages, potatoes, vegetable wok, fruit shakes, sandwiches from self made bread and self service buffet. The fresh baked cakes are as good as the friendly atmosphere. Terrace available.

This colorful restaurant, Dostrece serves a daily brunch catered to all preferences (including the new vegan brunch). There you can find a range of pancakes with seasonal fruits, omelettes, sandwiches, all kinds of eggs served with English bread. Join your brunch with a cocktail and end your hangover in a flash. Good music with great atmosphere. Facebook.

Milk is a restaurant run by an Irish couple with brunch served everyday from 9:00 to 16:30 and a special “Recovery brunch”. With plenty of options for everyone, including American styled breakfast, eggs florentine, breakfast burger, salads, omelettes and plenty of side orders. To drink, fruit juices, smoothies, teas and cocktails. Facebook.

Fresh flowers, high chairs and bright interiors, Picnic also promotes organic produce and has an extensive brunch menu including strawberry pancakes, french toast, italian sausage with gruyere cheese, huevos rancheros or israeli cous-cous. Bellinis, mimosas, pink lemonade (with or without vodka) or the Chipotle Bloody Mary, clearly make a difference.
