Parc Güell is one of the most recognizable works by Gaudí in Barcelona, and a true exponent of Catalan Art Nouveau style “Modernism”. Since its conception, it has been an open park for residents and tourists alike, however due to the tremendous and ever growing amount of visitors each year, since October 2013 it is required to buy a ticket for Parc Güell.
Nevertheless, as in every museum or attraction in Barcelona, there are several ways to enter Parc Güell for free:
- During winter (November 1st-March 30th). On the first Sunday of every month, a limited number of free tickets are given out at the box office while supplies last.
- During summer (April 1st- October 31st). Every Sunday from 17:00 to 20:00 hours.
- Open house on April 23rd for Sant Jordi, May 18th and September 24th for La Mercè.
It’s important to highlight that only the Monumental Zone of the park is restricted to ticket holders. This is the area that includes the Dragon, the Hypostyle Room and the main terrace, the rest of the park remains open to the general public.
If you wish to buy your tickets online, there are a few advantages such as a lower price and no waiting times to enter the Monumental Area.
Barcelona residents can register to apply for free entrance tickets, on the Office of Citizen Services at the Plaça Sant Miquel 3.
